The Ottawa Centre is one of twenty-eight centres of the Royal Astronomical Society of Canada: an organization dedicated to the advancement of astronomy and allied sciences.

The Ottawa Centre was officially formed in 1906 and currently has over 500 members. Centre facilities include the Fred P. Lossing Observatory near Almonte which houses several instruments including an excellent 16 inch Newtonian telescope.

We hold regular public meetings plus many special events. The Centre also operates an astronomical book library, and a telescope loan library.

Ottawa Centre meetings are normally held at 8 p.m. in the main auditorium of the Canada Science & Technology Museum on the first Friday of the month. Please see the Meetings section for any last-minute changes, meeting agendas and directions to the museum.
