April Constellation: Gemini  (The Twins)

Standing high in the west is Gemini the Twins, a constellation of the Zodiac. The brightest two stars mark the heads of twin brothers in Greek mythology. They are:

Pollux on the left and Castor on the right.

The twins were heroes and had many adventures with Jason in search of the Golden Fleece, a well told ancient mythological story. Castor is actually a six star system about 52 light years away and Pollux is a binary star about 34 light years away, but they appear close to each other in the sky. The Milky Way appears to run through Gemini's feet.
